Our position

Why we say it that way

"Repair when possible. Replace only when necessary." reads like a slogan, and in most of this industry it would be one. For us it describes an operating decision that costs us revenue on a regular basis.

Roofing in the Puget Sound region has a structural problem. A great many companies employ salespeople who are paid a commission on the contract value. When that is how the person on your roof gets paid, the incentive is obvious and it does not need to be conscious to be real: every roof starts to look a bit closer to the end of its life than it is.

We removed the incentive. There is nobody in this company whose income increases when your repair becomes a replacement. So when we tell you the roof has eight years left and needs two hundred dollars of flashing work, that is simply what we found.

The trade-off is that we perform a lot of small, unglamorous jobs. We are fine with that. It is also why so much of our work arrives by referral rather than through advertising — the homeowner we did not oversell tells their neighbor.

Built for this climate

Roofs in western Washington do not fail the way roofs fail elsewhere. Nine months of rain, dense tree cover, persistent shade on north slopes, moss that establishes in any damp organic debris, and wind-driven water that finds every imperfect flashing detail.

That shapes everything about how we inspect. We start at the transitions and penetrations because that is where water gets in here. We take moss seriously because it holds water against the roofing rather than merely looking untidy. We pay close attention to ventilation because moisture that cannot escape the attic degrades the roof from underneath, invisibly, for years.

Licensing, bonding and insurance

We operate as Remodeling Solutions Northwest, LLC, doing business as Roofing Specialists Northwest, under Washington State contractor registration ROOFISN776BC. We are bonded and carry liability insurance.

You should verify that — for us and for every contractor who bids your roof. Washington State Labor & Industries maintains a free contractor lookup where you can confirm registration status, bonding and insurance before anyone starts work. Hiring an unregistered contractor in Washington leaves you with very little recourse if something goes wrong.

How we work

Four commitments that shape every job

Repair when possible

The roof gets assessed on its actual condition. If a repair will hold, we repair it, and we say so plainly even when a replacement would be worth far more to us.

No commissioned salespeople

Nobody who inspects your roof earns a percentage of what you spend. That single structural decision changes every recommendation you receive from us.

Referrals over advertising

Much of our work has always come from customers sending their neighbors, family and colleagues. That only continues if the advice was right the first time.

Small jobs are real jobs

A single flashing repair is welcome work. We do not use small requests as an opening to propose something much larger.

Where we work

We serve King and Snohomish counties from Lynnwood, Washington — Seattle, the Eastside, south Snohomish County and north through Everett, along with the many smaller communities in between.

Before you hire anyone

Confirm the contractor registration is active. Ask whether the person inspecting the roof is paid on commission. Get the scope in writing. Ask what happens if the decking turns out to be damaged once the roof is opened up. These questions cost nothing and they filter out a great deal of trouble.

Not sure whether you need a repair or a replacement?

That is exactly the question we answer. Send us the details and we will tell you what the roof actually needs — including when the answer is that it needs very little.
